GREAT INAUGURAL MANCHESTER WNP MEETING
25th January 2004

The first Manchester WNP meeting was held on Sunday, Jan 31st in the heart of the city.  This city has been the venue of nationalist gatherings since the 1930s and hopefully, will continue to host them.

It is the first time that a meeting of the WNP has been held here and it is envisaged that regular assemblies will be the order of the day.

The meeting was slightly disrupted due to the landlord of the premises originally booked, being absent and the bar staff threatened to walk out if a meeting were to take place on the premises. It later transpired that the one of the bar staff had half-caste children and the other was a perverted homosexual! Thanks to the actions of Pete Rushton, a new venue was quickly arranged nearby and the meeting went ahead albeit a little later that originally scheduled.

The meeting was ably chaired by the Manchester Area Organizer, Adrian who gave a very informative introductory address.

The National Press Officer, Peter Rushton (above), then spoke about the ongoing nationalist scene in general and the  part that the WNP is playing, in particular.  As always, he illustrated his arguments by citing countless examples of the ineptitude of the present government.

After the interval and the raffle, the national organiser, John Wood (above), spoke of the failure of the BNP to live up to its expectations. He cited cases of elected councillors either resigning or being expelled from the party. He said that he was saddened to see such effort and man-hours wasted after all the effort that had been made by the rank-and-file members. He added that they deserved better.

Sales of merchandise, always a popular thing at meetings, were very brisk and the collection raised in excess of £100. This will be of great benefit to the Manchester Branch as it will fund a Box number for enquiries.

After the meeting, several members repaired to a pub near the Victoria Station for a refreshing interlude before making their way home.
