The third full meeting of the WNP's National Council (NC) was held on Saturday October 25th in Preston, Lancashire. The NC is the WNP's nine man (and women!) democratically elected ruling body (unlike the BNP which is run by just one man - Nick Griffin).
Every NC member was in attendance:
Eddy Morrison (Leeds)
Lisa Paton (Bradford)
John Wood (Sheffield)
Mark Cotterill (Blackburn)
Peter Rushton (Manchester)
Kevin Watmough (Leeds)
Paul Bamford (Lancaster)
John O'Brien (Accrington)
Russell Turner (Preston)
The NC had already decided at the previous meeting that Kevin Watmough be National Secretary, editor of White Nationalist World and Webmaster, Lisa Paton be chairwoman of the Women's Division and party treasurer, Eddy Morrison be in charge of the Ideology and Training Section and producing the WNP's weekly e-zine Folk and Faith. John Wood would also assist Eddy with the Education and Training Dept, as well as forment WNP policy.
The following positions on the NC with filled at Saturdays meeting:
National Organiser - John Wood
National Activities Organiser - John O'Brian
Press Officer - Peter Rushton,
Elections Officer - Mark Cotterill
Merchandise Officer - Russell Turner
Student Organiser and Recruitment Officer - Paul Bamford.
Every NC member now has at least one (and in some cases two or three different) jobs within the party.
Other non-NC positions filled were Gerry Butler -Security Officer. This is an important role and Gerry now plans to form a National Stewarding Corps, which will be responsible for stewarding future party meetings and activities. This has been a necessary step as a small group of malcontents tried to disrupt the last WNP meeting. Thankfully these troublemakers have now either been expelled (or resigned from the party) and in one case gone back to the BNP!
Items on the agenda included next years St. Georges Day March (to be held on April 24th 2004); the "Red, White and Black festival" (to be held sometime in May 2004), the 2004 local elections (to be held on June 10th 2004) - it was announced that the England First Party would be contesting at least half a dozen wards.
The party merchandise Officer announced that a new party badge would be ready very soon and that a new T-shirts/flags/cd's and other items were in the pipeline.
The party secretary announced that a new two sided red/white/black leaflet would be available soon, along with new issue of White Nationalist World.
Lisa The party secretary announced the bank balance was the best since the party was formed almost a year and a half ago, but appealed to members to carry on sending in donations as this was the party's life-blood at this stage.
Lisa who is also the chairman of the Womens Division then showed off the new issue of Valkyrie magazine, which she and other women members have just produced. She reported that all was going well in the Women's Division now that certain disruptive elements had been expelled.
All in all the meeting was very positive and the party is now in the hands of a very competent and experienced team.
