The meeting, held in Leeds, was well attended and chaired by Peter Rushton,
National Council officer.
Mr. Rushton opened the meeting by saying that there had been rapid
growth during the past year. He spoke of the plans for appointing officers
to various positions in the near future. He explained that these appointments
would, in all probability, be decided at the next meeting of the National
Council.

Ursula Roberts, Birmingham Branch Organiser, was the first speaker who gave details of what was happening in the West Midlands.

The last speaker was John Wood, who voiced dismay at the way the BNP, a former bastion of Nationalism, was degenerating into a second-rate Tory party. He reminded members what he had said at the inaugural meeting of the BNP in April 1982. H had warned the party never to moderate its aims nor to water down its manifesto to attract a mass mediocre following. He pointed out that there would be no dilution of the policies of the WNP. He went on to explain the duties of the National Council and emphasised that all appointments and matters of policy were the responsibility of the Council.

The various literature stalls did a brisk trade. The collection was in excess of £100 and the meeting closed earlier than planned due to the premises being needed for another function later that day.
Several members repaired to a nearby pub where informal discussions
continued well into the early evening.
