Ex BNP man was part of a child porn
network
A man who stood for the BNP in the
county council elections was the member of a child porn network- where
he possessed and distributed child pornography of boys under the age of
13.
Leicester Crown Court heard how Gavin Leist, aged 20 from Ratcliffe
Road, Loughborough, had been "grappling with his sexuality" and had
arrived at indecent images of children through an interest in
pornography.
'He [Gavin] pleaded guilty to three to three counts of distribution- 57
Level One, seven Level Two and Six Level Four images. He also pleaded
gulity to possessing 68 Level One, 11 Level Two and eight Level Four
images.
The scale is set from one to five- five being the worst category.
The court heard that he was arrested at the Ramada Hotel, in High
Street, where he used to live and work as a reception team leader,
following police intelligence.
He stood for the BNP at Leicestershire County Council elections in 2009
for Loughborough North West, which covers Thorpe Acre and Garendon
Park. He gained 281 votes, but was knocked out by Labour [and finished
last by miles].
The court heard that his computer was seized by police, but no images
were found. They were eventually discovered on an email zip file left
in his sent box.
James Varley, prosecuting, told the court: "He had joined an online
paedophile network. He had exchanged emails and incited people to send
pictures and they had done so. He also sent emails to three different
users with pictures. He said he was hetrosexual and has a girlfriend
and through pornography was interested in this material."
Gareth Weetman, defending told the court told the court "he was only 16
when he became involved in this online activity and had shown a level
of remorse."
He said "he was a young man - just come out of his teens - who has been
grappling with his sexuality. He says he is hetrosexual. He has lost
his job and previous home. He is back to square one living with his mum
and dad."
Mr Weetman asked the judge to serve Leist with a suspended sentence.
However, Michael Port QC felt custody was the only option.
The difficulty I have is that you crossed a significant line. You
accessed material and you have distributed it. It is so serious that a
significant custodial sentence is the only way to deal with it."
He handed Leist a 16 month prison sentence, of which he will have to
serve half. He was also handed a Sexual Offences' Prevention Order,
which means his future computer use can be monitored at any time.

Bath snatch suspect takes stand
October 16, 2006
A JURY today heard a man deny snatching a
six-year-old girl from her bath and raping her.
Peter Voisey, 35, of Blyth, Northumberland, entered the witness box
at Newcastle Crown Court where he is on trial for abduction, rape and
sexual assault on the child last year.
The jury heard last week how he molested a 12-year-old girl at
a leisure
centre in Macclesfield, Cheshire in 2001.
He was jailed for three years, reduced on appeal to two years, the
court heard.
Franz Muller QC, defending, asked Voisey how he felt after he
committed the indecent assault in 2001.
“Utterly ashamed, so sorry that it happened,” the defendant said.
“I just wished I hadn’t put somebody through that kind of thing.”
The defendant, also known as Smith, the name he chose aged 16, said
he was concerned during his prison sentence for what he had done.
“I would speak regularly with my personal officer and I asked if
there was something I could do to put it right and she said the best
thing I could ever do was to ensure that nothing like that could ever
happen again,” he said.
Mr Muller asked: “Has it happened again?”
Voisey tearfully replied: “It most definitely has not sir, no.”
He denied having a sexual interest in children and said he did not
commit two burglaries which the jury has been told had a sexual element.
The court has heard that the six-year-old was grabbed from the
bathroom of her ground-floor flat in December last year.
She was driven away in a car, subjected to two serious sex assaults
then dumped naked and shivering in a freezing alley.
The case continues.

Rapist ‘destroyed a young girl’s life’ 
A
GWENT man who "destroyed" a young girl's life through a "monstrous
campaign" of rapes and sex attacks was jailed for 15 years yesterday.
Trevor
Yemm, 52, from Blaina, groomed his victim, carrying out a catalogue of
escalating sex abuse, Cardiff crown court heard.
Judge
Philip Richards told Yemm (right) that his victim, now a woman, was an
intelligent girl who "might have done well in life."
But
he said: "By your conduct you destroyed her and the prospects she had.
She
became addicted to drugs and alcohol, repeatedly self-harmed and
ultimately
tried to kill herself."
Yemm,
of Bournville Road, appeared for sentence after a jury had convicted
him of six counts of rape and six of indecent assault.
He
was cleared of another four counts of rape and seven counts of indecent
assault.
Judge
Richards said he had carried out a "monstrous campaign" and had groomed
his
"extremely vulnerable" victim. He said: "She is now suffering appalling
psychological
consequences."
Yemm
had
denied all charges against him and claimed the girl was lying.
During
the trial the court heard how the girl said at first she did not
realise that what was happening to her was wrong.
When
she
appreciated she was being abused she would sometimes become comatose
through
drink and be taken to hospital, once taking to the streets, the jury
was
told.
During
an emotionally charged sentencing yesterday, over 20 members of Yemm's
family and friends attended the court to support him.
Marian
Lewis, mitigating for Yemm, said: "Apart from these offences, this is a
man
of 52 with no previous convictions recorded against him."
She
said: "He has lost his employment, his reputation and custody in itself
is an
enormous punishment."
Judge
Richards told Yemm he would not be eligible for parole until he had
served at least half the sentence.
He
was told he would have to register as a sex offender for life and was
disqualified from working with children.
After
the case, Detective Constable Louise Holl, of Gwent Police, said: "I am
extremely
pleased with this outcome.
"This
was a difficult case to investigate involving historic sexual abuse.
The outcome shows that the Criminal Justice System is a process that
victims
can have confidence in and I would urge any individual in a similar
position
to come forward.
"The
outcome is a testament to the courage of the victim and the support she
received
from partner agencies including Victim Support and Witness Care."
PAEDOPHILE SUSPECT WILL NOT STAND TRIAL

A
suspected paedophile will not stand trial because it took 32 years to
find him living just yards from Swansea Crown
Court.
Roger
Hawkins (right),aged 52, failed to turn up to court back in 1974 when
he was accused of seven sex crimes against teenage boys.
He
was finally found weeks ago living just a few hundred yards from the
court steps. And yesterday a judge heard Hawkins would not face trial -
even though he admitted some of the offences 32 years ago.
Judge
John Griffith Williams told the court: "There is no other option than
to return verdicts of not guilty on his charges. It is a matter of
great public concern that a man who faced serious charges has avoided
trial based on
his previous admissions, possibly conviction. I would like to know why
someone who was meant to appear in court in October 1974 was not found
until June 2006."
Cardiff
Crown Court heard Hawkins made a voluntary admission of some of the
charges when he was arrested - but was now denying the seven sexual
charges against him.
The
trial will not go ahead because important paperwork was missing and the
witnesses
did not want to attend a trial.
Prosecutor
Hywel Hughes said: "None of the witnesses wishes to be reminded of the
past.Two of the police officers on the case are still alive but they
have no recollection of the case. The exhibits of the case have long
disappeared and vital documents cannot be found."
Debt
collector Hawkins,of Brynymor Crescent, was just 20 when he was accused
of
gross indecency, indecent assault and other serious sex offences on
four boys aged 15 to 17. He was also accused of being in possession of
indecent articles.
The
court also heard that five of the seven charges were no longer crimes.
Hawkins
was living in Aberdare when he failed to turn up for court but later
moved to London to avoid disgracing his father's reputable estate
agents business. But more than three decades later, police knocked on
his door and arrested him at his home just 200 yards from the steps of
Swansea Crown Court.
He
was so shocked to see the police, he suffered an angina attack and was
admitted to hospital.
Cardiff
Crown Court heard that Hawkins may still face prosecution for
absconding from court.
South Wales Police are carrying out an
investigation into how the warrant resurfaced. A police spokesman said:
"A Home Office
review of outstanding warrants four years ago had prompted the
development
of a new computer system."

AN
INTERNET pervert who downloaded more than 4,000 indecent images of
young boys was yesterday banned from using the Internet and owning a
computer.
Alan
Lang, from Newport, escaped a prison sentence after the court heard he
had a "tragic history."
Newport
crown court heard how the 37-year-old, of Rodney Road, was a
"vulnerable person" who had desperately sought help for his
"compulsion."
Prosecutor
John Probert said police raided Lang's home after receiving a tip-off.
"He
said he had a compulsion and was, in his own words, desperate for
help'," Mr Probert said.
Lang
admitted 16 counts of making indecent images of children and one charge
of
possessing 4,023 indecent images.
The
court was told six of these images were graded as the worst possible
category of child abuse.
Caroline
Rees for Lang said her client had pleaded guilty at the very first
opportunity.
The
judge said the public would want to know why he had not passed a
custodial sentence.
He
said what "shines out" is that Lang was a man with "considerable
difficulties" for which he was in no way responsible for.
Judge
Philip Richards said: "You have committed a very serious offence by
downloading these images.
"The
sad fact is that those children used to create these images for the
gratification of people like you were abused themselves.
"Real
children suffered real harm and what the consequences are to those
children is inestimable."
The
judge said the images the defendant downloaded were "appalling".
He
sentenced Lang to a three-year supervision order as part of which he
will have to undergo a sex offenders treatment programme.
Under
the terms of a sex offenders' prevention order, Lang was banned from
using a computer or accessing the Internet indefinitely.
He
was told he would have to register on the sex offenders' register for
five years.

Child porn man spared

A FORMER nursery owner who
downloaded 369 child porn pictures from the internet has escaped a
prison term because of the condition of his ill wife, who is being
treated for cancer.
Ex-Scout master Brian Griffiths,
53, appeared at Northampton Crown Court yesterday to be sentenced for
possessing and downloading images of sexually abused children.
Recorder John Maxwell handed Griffiths a community service order, which
will be supervised for three years.
He will also undertake a sex offenders' treatment programme, remain on
the sex offenders' register for five years and never work with children
again.
Mr Maxwell also banned him from using the internet for five years
unless it was work or education related.
Mr Maxwell said: "It is perfectly clear I thought prison was
inevitable; when I first prepared this case I could see no alternative.
"The only thing that changed my mind is the judge who heard this before
me requested a pre-sentence report to address the problem of your wife,
who I know is very ill.
"If you went to prison the person who would suffer the most would be
your wife."
Griffiths, of Station Road, Burton Latimer, pleaded guilty to
possessing indecent images of children in April, as well as 19 further
counts of making pornographic pictures of children between January 1,
2004, and April this year.
The images – which had been deleted but were recovered by computer
specialists – were stored across the machine's hard drive, floppy disks
and zip disks.
The images were discovered when he took his computer to be repaired.
Pearl Willis, prosecuting, told the court in an earlier hearing that
some of the images depicted serious sexual offences against children.
The father-of-two previously co-owned nurseries in Burton Latimer and
Barton Seagrave but has sold one and is in the process of selling the
other.
The head of Northamptonshire Police's high-tech crime unit, Det Sgt
Damian Walton, said: "I am pleased justice has been done.
"Countless young children are being abused where there is a demand for
these images. If anyone has information relating to this type of
offence, I urge them to report it to the police."
This scum bag Brian Griffiths

recovery from alleged cancer the day after the trial.
He is liable to be at work
anywhere in the Northants and surrounding areas, believed in the air
